44th Annual ACM Awards

Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 6:54 pm  |  By: Shane Caldwell

ACM

And we're off!  The 2009 ACM Awards has begun and there she is, the Queen of country music... our girl Reba.  Well they just flew right over Reba and went right to B & D.  They're pullin' out all the stops here at the head of the show...  Taylor Swift.  Now we got Sugarland performing... there ain't gonna be anybody left by the end of the show.  I think Jennifer Nettles is wearing the vest that went with Taylor Swift's outfit... they are both wearing shards of glass.  Carrie Underwood is either wearing the biggest diamond choker I've ever seen or she was in a car accident right before the show and they've put her in a neck brace.   Now we got Rascal Flatts... they are bringing out all the super stars at the start of the show.  This show should be a cozy 30  minutes, I guess they'll fill the rest of the show with CSI reruns.  Just saw Matthew McConaughey in the audience wearing dark sunglasses, I'm sure it has nothing to do with his eyes being red.. wink, wink.

There she is and I  must say Reba looks like a Million dollars.  Dress number 1, tasteful black with fringe... since I know nothing about fashion, judge for yourselves friends.  Reba bringing out the one liners early.  Sorry but I already beat you to the punch on the pot joke.   There's Brad Paisley and his good luck charm, Little Jimmy Dickens.  They're either out on the road together or that's the worst looking green room I've ever seen.

Shecky McEntire is finished her set and now Kenny Chesney has finished the stage.  How out of character that he would have a screen with beach scenes.   Ah here's that country icon... Jennifer Love Hewitt.  She's here to present the Song of the year and who better to present it than the star of the Ghost Whisperer.  And the winner is Jamey Johnson!  The look on George Strait was how did Grizzly Adams beat me?

While we break, check out these words from new country group Gloriana:

To the bloggers out there, CountryFan... What would you like me to be wearing?  And to Julie -- there's enough crowns to go around.

We're back and Reba's still in the same outfit.  Has the economic downturn his the ACM's as well?  Whoa!  Heidi Newfield doing Johnny and June in the middle of a ring of fire... nice touch.  Don't try this at home... although I know you're going to.  It just hit me how much Heidi looks like Nicolette Sheridan.  This way you can watch the show and not feel like you're missing Desperate Housewives.  Oh wait, Jen told me Nicolette's character got killed off the show last week... maybe there's not really her up there.

Darius Rucker presenting the award for Vocal Group of the Year.  Since the show's in Vegas, I'm betting on a sure thing... Rascal Flatts.  I Win!

And for all your live bloggers out there.  We have a special sweepstakes tonight launching off the live blog.  How would you like to win the celebrity gift basket they give away at the ACM Awards?  We'll now's your chance... enter now here: http://www.cmt.com/interact/sweepstakes/acm-gift-basket

What's in the bag? Click on the link above and you'll get a description of some of the fabulous items inside!  Trust me, it's good -- I want to keep it myself!  P.s.. Carrie Underwood gets it and picks out what she wants and then gives the rest to her stylist... you'll love it.

Ah yes, another country icon, Marissa Miller... Who you ask?  Exactly...

Here's Toby Keith and he brought a horn section.  I heard 'em play two notes and that was it. Sweet gig for them... I wonder if they get that cool gift basket?

Reba STILL in the same outfit... we're in a depression.  America is in a depression.

Now Jamey Johnson is singing and the pictures in black and white... we can't even afford TV anymore!  The bread lines and government cheese are soon to follow!  And Jamey Johnson is ready for it, he's obviously quit buying shaving cream and razor blades.  Oh now we're to color... all is not lost after all!  Now it's black and white again... how many people have actually gotten up and hit the side of their TV thinking there's something wrong with the picture?  Oh and the color is back! Just kidding we knew what they were doing with this song, "In Color." Just making sure you were listening.

We're in Nashville and we are actually under a tornado warning right now... so if we go away for a few minutes... we may have taken shelter in our designated safety area... the restrooms.  If the awards are on right now, why don't you tell us what's happening because we are watching a line of thunderstorm come through with a weather bulletin.

Jamie Foxx has taken the stage... now here's an actor with a legitimate reason to be here, he sang on the Rascal Flatts record on the song, "She Goes All the Way."  Plus, he played Ray Charles and got a Oscar for it.  He's at home on any stage.

Here's the real deal friends... George Strait.  Enjoy...

And while King George is on stage it's a perfect time to ask your opinion on who's going to take home Entertainer of the Year award.  George is nominated along with Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood.

Here's Jack Ingram and Jason Aldean to present Top New Artist.  See who Chuck Wicks thinks should win!

(Either JavaScript is not active or you are using an old version of Adobe Flash Player. Please install the newest Flash Player.)

And Chuck was right!  Looks like he'll get some kisses and not from Zac Brown or Jake Owen!  Julianne is genuinely excited.  I interviewed her a couple of weeks ago and she has got it together.  Smart, funny and classy.  I predict she will go far.  She's gone quite a ways already.

While we are breaking we want to remind everyone to check back on CMT.com after Reba's performance tonight to exclusively stream her new song "Strange."

And she finally changed... there's hope for America!

The country icons keep coming... David Copperfield.  How about making yourself disappear Dave.  I'd make some sarcastic comment here but I think this speaks for itself.

Is it just me or did Taylor look embarrassed by that whole magic trick thing? Any embarrassment Taylor might have felt by the David Copperfield bit was erased by this performance.  This was her best performance on an award show by a long shot.

Here's Lady A performing "I Run to You."  They usually bring it on the award show... lets see how they do this time.   Good job kids.

While we're breaking check out Jack Ingram talking with host Reba McEntire about her upcoming performance tonight on the ACM Awards.

(Either JavaScript is not active or you are using an old version of Adobe Flash Player. Please install the newest Flash Player.)

We're back with Womack! Lee Ann sound great and gets extra points for singing in 15 inch hills.  She could get into Cirque De Soleil with balance like that.

And the country icons keep coming Kaley Cuoco from the Big Bang Theory.  She's presenting the ACM Top Vocal Duo and what a surprise... Sugarland.  I think we call saw that one coming.

Here's our girl Kellie Pickler.  With a new hairstyle and a form fitting dress and on behalf of all red-blooded American men, I'd like to say thank you Kellie.  Here's dirty sexy Keith Urban.  Keith's singing about wanting to kiss a girl... what's wrong with the one you got Keith? How 'bout leaving some for the rest of us.  Between you and Katy Perry I'm out in the cold... like I had a chance anyway.

Thanks again to all the fans who are posting their comments and saying the things we'd like to say but can't!  Thanks and keep 'em comin' folks.

Here's Miranda Lambert... You know boyfriend Blake Shelton was suppose to be here blogging with us but she wanted him to go to Vegas with her... guess who won.  Now you're stuck with us.  Blame it on Miranda.

LeAnn Rimes receiving the Humanitarian Award... lets listen to this speech.  Could be interesting...

Here's John Rich... take a listen.

To Cindy who just asked if I'd heard anything about Tim McGraw being replaced by Blake Shelton on the show... I did indeed hear there was a "tiff" with the producer but don't know much more than that.  I'm sure CMT.com is on the case and you'll be able to read the whole story there soon.

Great comments everyone.  Keep em' coming.  We feel ya.

Here's Billy Ray Cyrus, I wonder who he's going to introduce...

Billy Ray Cyrus "Plug-O-Matic"

Here's Miley Cyrus.  According to Billy Ray, I think she has a movie and a record coming out this week.  Did you hear anything about that?  They stole the set piece from the Price Is Right... where's Drew Carey? It's the Mountain Climber.

It's Montgomery Gentry... and as always, they sound just like themselves.

And break time... Shane's off to steal some chips and chocolate!  And a reminder to everyone here... don't forget to enter the Live Blog Celebrity Gift Basket Sweepstakes! http://www.cmt.com/interact/sweepstakes/acm-gift-basket

We just learned from the CMT Radio Live twitter that Miranda Lambert had never performed the song she sang tonight before and she just wrote it.  http://twitter.com/CMT_Radio_Live

Carrie Underwood standing on top of an avalanche of fabric.  Wonder who's hiding under there?  Maybe Randy Travis is going to pop out from under the dress and do a duet with her.

Martina is presenting the Top Male Vocalist... she's not singing? What a crime! Ah... the only guy who's not there wins, Brad Paisley... I told you Tater was his good luck charm.

You wanted her... you got it, here's Reba singing.  Log on to CMT.com at 12/11c or anytime this week to hear Reba's new single, "Strange."  Exclusively at CMT.com!

Here's Dierks with the award for Top Female Vocalist.  This is a tough call here... but I'm betting on Carrie Underwood.  I win again!  Ding, Ding, Ding!  I'm glad she was able to find her way out of that other dress.

Well done Trace.

Okay... only a couple of awards left.  Any more bets on who will win EOTY?

Finally!  Another costume change for Reba.  This may be the last one, I think she'll take it home in this gown.

Jennifer Nettles is looking right at me right now, I know it... I just know it.  You're trying to seduce me right now aren't you Mrs. Nettles?

To Kim -- The storm passed us by some folks in East Tennessee and Southern Kentucky are being told to keep watch.  Good luck to all of them and thanks for your concern Kim, we are A-Okay!

Here's another "surprise" award.

Uh Oh!  Malfunction junction!  Here's Single of the Year... Trace Adkins! Always good to see the big guy win.

Hey everyone -- be sure to check out all of CMT.com's award coverage to see photos, winners and more! http://www.cmt.com/acm-awards/

Here's Blake Shelton unplugged.  Well, he is plugged in but he is acoustic.  This seperates the men from the voice.  Your voice and a couple guitars.

Get ready for Album of the Year... This is another tough one but I'm picking Carrie.  Can I go three for three... we'll see.  Boy was I wrong on that one...

Here comes Rascal Flatts with "Here Comes Goodbye."  Like how I tied that together?  That's why they pay me the big bucks... actually I get paid nothing for this and they are getting their moneys worth don't you think?

Finally it looks like the big one is coming after the break... Entertainer of the Year. I'm betting on the only female in the bunch... Carrie Underwood and from the looks of the fan pool, it looks like they are going for her as well. http://www.cmt.com/acm-awards/voting.jhtml.  Stay tuned...

Here's Matthew McConaughey to present Entertainer of the Year.  He seems surprisingly coherent.  Here we go... EOTY!  And Bing, Bing, Bing!  The fans were right!  Kenny just tried to kiss her and she pulled away. That wasn't so awkward was it, yes it was.  Rejected!

Well that's it friends!  Another ACM Awards has come and gone.  Congratulations to Carrie and all the winners.  Great job Reba.  And that will about do it for me and Jen.  Don't forget to check back and hear Reba's new single, "Strange," exclusively at CMT.com! So again, remember in the word of Robert Earl Keen.. "the road goes on forever, and the party never ends..." See ya next time, until then.. adios!

So here’s the REAL question, Shane. What are YOU wearing tonight?

  • Julie says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 7:18 pm

Reba is SOOO *NOT* the queen of country music! Patsy Cline will ALWAYS be its queen!!! The only two women who have any other claim to that title who are living are Loretta and Dolly.

  • Country Fan says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 7:26 pm

That’s it. I want you wearing a tasteful number, flowing, with a crown.

is there anywhere besides gac for the red carpet????? and reba could definitely be a contender for queen of country!

    Jamie Foxx is on…..uh, okay?

  • mel says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 7:49 pm

Jamie Foxx again with his “black man at the country awards show” bit. Not a lot of change from him. Isn’t this an awards show, not a political rally?

  • mel says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 7:51 pm

Long live King George!! Love that man!

  • ryan says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 7:51 pm

Lol mel since when have country music awards shows been free of politics?

  • Julie says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 7:51 pm

Ok, just hearing Jamie Foxx do one line of a George Strait classic has me longing to have him do a whole album of covers of his favorite country songs.

And George is just awesome, as usual!

  • Taralynn87 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 7:52 pm

I personally thing George is a legend in ANYONE’S Book…

  • mel says:

I hope Keith wins, he is just a terrific live entertainer! I am hoping it’s not Kenny again, it will be way more than overkill

  • Taralynn87 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 7:57 pm

haha whoops…I knew I mistyped that!! lol I do know that lol

I know, he had a full suit on!!

  • Julie says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 7:57 pm

My cycnicism is showing but… would Julianne Hough have gotten a record deal so quickly had she not already been so well-known from Dancing With The Stars?

  • Taralynn87 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 7:57 pm

It would be nice for Carrie to win too, since that is usually a male-dominated category…

  • Julie says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 7:59 pm

And I agree on Keith winning EOTY. I’ve seen him twice in concert and the man just never stops! The band gets breaks, but he doesn’t take one, not even when he was recovering from the flu. He played three different instruments, sang, interacted with the fans and just put his all into it for almost 3 hours both times!

  • Taralynn87 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:00 pm

Reba changed! What a pretty green gown!

  • Taralynn87 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:04 pm

Yeah, I was a little embarrassed for her… lol

  • Jess says:

    Taylor sounded horrible!!

  • mel says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:07 pm

She does look genuinely surprised doesn’t she? Cute

  • Julie says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:09 pm

Taylor’s a good kid, full of talent and a very refreshing genuineness.

  • jig419 says:

Taylor sound horrible! What is the academy doing, making up awards for her now?????

  • nashvillestar1 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:11 pm

either keith or carrie should win eoty!! well, really as long as kenny doesn’t win for the millionth time, i’d be okay with anyone else. ZAC BROWN BAND should have won instead of julianne. sorry, but i am just not a fan of hers.

  • Taralynn87 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:12 pm

Great performance!! Gotta love Lady A!

  • casey says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:13 pm

I totally agree Taylor once again sounded awful. Her surprise was so fake it was embarassing to watch her gush like that!

  • Melissa says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:15 pm

Well, since she wasn’t nominated for anything this year they had to do something to make all her fans happy. I’m sorry but I’ve never heard her sing live and it sound anywhere near good.

  • Taralynn87 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:20 pm

I see they are hauling the CBS stars out to present…probably saves them money.

  • Kim says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:23 pm

So what’s up with the voting. I tried to vote for EOY and it said I already voted. I absolutely did NOT. I tried 3 times after that and it wouldn’t let me. I decided just for the hell of it to try and vote for my second coice (Brad Paisley) and surprise it let me vote. I think it’s fixed! By the way, my first choice was for Carrie! How can it be fair.

  • Taralynn87 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:25 pm

Kim, same thing happened to me…I tried voting for Carrie too!!

  • Melissa says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:27 pm

wow- that’s what hapened to me too- it wouldn’t let me vote for Carrie

  • Kim says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:27 pm

They want to make it look like it is voted by the fans but they are rigging the voting!

  • Taralynn87 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:28 pm

Wow, too sad…So, Kenny it is AGAIN huh? lol

  • Taralynn87 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:29 pm

I think Shane’s talking to us, Kim and Melissa…:)

  • casey says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:29 pm

now that’s funny . . . thinking things are rigged against Carrie. from my perspective things have been rigged in her favor since her idol days.

  • Melissa says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:30 pm

I sure hope not- I’d take any of the others before him again.

  • Kim says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:30 pm

It really stinks! They are all really good but the last two years, she has really proven herself and deserves it. I wonder what would happen if we tryo again and vote for someone else?

  • Taralynn87 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:31 pm

It let me vote for Carrie!!!!! :D

  • Lori says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:32 pm

I think ETOY should not be fan voted. When it comes to entertainer of the year… Keith Urban, Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney are the best live entertainers out there. I have seen all three and they all are awesome.
If its Kenny again, then its Kenny…at least it is someone who works hard to entertain us all… and they all do… how do you really measure that…

  • Lazeras says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:36 pm

I think if anyone is not able to vote for carrie..you don’t need to worry, I’ve seen many fans on her fansites that make fake emale addresses so they can vote multiple times for her, using names they pull from the white pages. Seems criminal to me, but am sure she will win all the awards she is nominated for through the fans of hers that vote fraudulently.

  • mel says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:36 pm

It wouldn’t let me vote for Keith and I haven’t voted yet either. What ever…

  • Cindy says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:37 pm

I heard that Blake is replacing Tim McGraw…evidentally he got into a “tiff” with the producers…Shane, do you know anything about that??

  • Taralynn87 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:37 pm

you don’t use email addresses, as it is done by IP address…so Idk how they are getting through with multiple emails…

  • JR says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:38 pm

I tried voting for Kieth Urban and got the same “you already voted” message. That’s not right! Kieth is the real deal!

  • Lazeras says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:39 pm

from what I’ve seen they use masking programs, but idk i’m not up on internet technology.

  • Taralynn87 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:40 pm

John Rich, with the shout out to us in Detroit!! :D Our local country station here, WYCD 99.5, went nuts with this song, playing it EVERY 99 1/2 minutes the day it was released…

  • Lori says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:41 pm

People complain about Kenny and EOTY.. and he thinks that fan voting is not right either… fans use whatever means they can to rig the votes… (well, some fans..)

  • JR says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:41 pm

Oh God it’s John Rich. What is he doing off of CMT? You know, the network programmed by 25 year old New Yorkers who think all country folks have 2 teeth and wear overalls.

  • Taff42 says:

I finally got to vote for Carrie.

  • mel says:

Nice performance from John Rich, I love a guy who can play the guitar and not just use it as a prop! (shout out to Keith!!!)

  • JR says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:44 pm

Greed has certainly taken its toll on our country, but Lord Obama and the government in control of everything is not the answer. Give me my tax money and let me spend it on what I want and I will create more economic impact than any government redistribution of my hard earned wages to some lazy “wait for the government to save me” good for nothings.

  • mel says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:45 pm

I mean Keith can play it like no other in case that came out goofy! oops

  • dariusruckerfan says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:46 pm

Enough of Obama- Why does every black male on tv have to say something about him?

  • Joanna says:

Do you know when Reba’s gonna perform??

    love,

  • Lori says:

Keith can play anything… banjo, mandolin, piano, and a kick a$$ guitar… he is amazing…

  • Taralynn87 says:

Oh God…She’s singing through her nose….

  • JR says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:49 pm

Is she gritting her teeth as she sings? I like the studio version of this song but it sounds weird tonight to me

  • Meg says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:50 pm

what is the name of the song that Lee Ann Womack sang? and is it out yet?

  • Lazeras says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:50 pm

Although I like Miley the kid, I’m afraid I’m not a big fan of her as a performer, but am sure many others enjoy her music and thats fine.

  • casey says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:51 pm

anothrt teen that can’t sing! she has absolutely no business performing. they could have skipped this performance and actually presented all of the awards live. it’s not fair that video and vocal event are not televised! Congrats to Brad and Keith!

  • JR says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:53 pm

Now this is country! OK, Southern Rock Country. :)

  • Lori says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 8:53 pm

These guys are great live… A real fun show….

  • Taralynn87 says:

  • Bren Keller says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 9:02 pm

    OMG Carrie’s dress is RETARDED!

  • mel says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 9:04 pm

Maybe Randy Travis will pop out from underneath it. LOL Shane!

  • casey says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 9:04 pm

how many people had to carry her out in that god awful dress? she really thinks alot of herself to have to wear so much trash!

  • Kim says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 9:04 pm

How many stage hands did it take to get her and that DRESS up there? Awesome dress!!!

  • mel says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 9:05 pm

Reba!! So funny, “going to wear that exact same dress!”

  • mel says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 9:06 pm

Who will it be? I want Keith to win!!!

  • mel says:

my comments don’t seem to be showing, so I’ll try again. I was saying earlier that I might be the only one, but every time Carrie sings it makes my head hurt. She has a powerful voice but it seems like its all voice and no soul, overemphasizes everything.

Half of the fun of Sugarland is watching Jennifer sing, so many goofy facial expressions but they look good on her.

These awards are super… all the way down to, BUT NOT INCLUDING, the blond bimbet hostesses.. the only class they appear to have is no class whatsoever.. the casting agent and the dress designer for those two should join the ranks of too many AMericans…

The show is great.. and I’ve only lived in Nashville for 18 months..

  • steph says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 9:49 pm

what taylor swift you have got to be kidding me she has not talent the best thing she can do is write songs she sucks at singing

  • jig419 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 9:50 pm

But then again anybody can go in and make an album and have your voice “fixed” in the studio!!!

  • Lazeras says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 9:51 pm

I feel sorry for people like jig that have such inborn or developed cynicism that they can’t be happy for anyone that does well if they don’t approve of them. Taylor may not be the best musician/vocalist/songwriter out there, but she seems to be honest and of good character and puts all her heart into what she does, d many people enjoy the music she puts out. Its sad that people who sit anonymously behind computers can throw out rude, crude despicable statements they don’t have to back up just because something may not be to their taste. Congrats to ms. swift and keep on working and stay true to yourself and improve, many people admire you for what you are, and don’t run you down because you aren’t everyone else.

  • mel says:

My 8 year old daughter asked me if Taylor Swift sings anything else except boys making her sad! LOL

  • steph says:

  • mel says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 10:00 pm

How does that happen! I guess it makes no difference if you can sing the heck out of all the songs you wrote yourself and you can play a zillion instruments and entertain a crowd into incoherence for 3 hours straight! I mean good for her, but come on, not entertainer of the year just yet.

  • Desi says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 10:05 pm

hope all the cheating, multiple voting carrie fans are happy! what a fricking joke! i bet you my life savings the academy changed it to fan voting just to make sure ms. high-and-mighty would win it sooner than later. the award was rigged from the start for her!!!!!!!!!!

  • jig419 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 10:06 pm

Anybody can go in the studio and make an album of the year but it takes REAL talent to be entertainer of the year!!!

  • Stephanie says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 10:08 pm

CARRIE UNDERWOOD SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DID NOT DESERVE ENTRAINER OF THE YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have to do agree i think it was rigged!! she aint that good of a singer anyway but damn sure didnt deserve it over KENNY OR GEORGE

  • Tanya says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 10:10 pm

Yeah right! There’s no way Carrie is better then any of those guys.
Like someone said, it’s a good thing it’s fan voted.

  • jig419 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 10:10 pm

Carrie deserves everything she gets! She works for it alike taylor swift!

  • jig419 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 10:11 pm

I meant to say taylor swift never works for anything she gets, it is brought by daddy swift!

  • Tanya says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 10:14 pm

Bull, never seen things handed over to someone as easy as Carrie! She hasn’t had to work for anything.
I remember watching Carrie in front of millions and then making a record and watching Taylor doing short cuts on GAC at 16 and putting song and watching it grow.

  • jig419 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 10:17 pm

Taylor gets everything brought by her daddy swift, including album of the year and her record contract, so please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jig419 says:

Theres in way in hell taylor earned anything!!!!

  • Tanya says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 10:21 pm

Please what? Her daddy gives them a check or something..lol

Carrie is the one having everything handed to her and everyone knows it!

  • star says:

  • Meg says:

Do you people have ears? Carrie has an incredible voice. If only you could sing like that, you would admire her talent.

  • jig419 says:

They are just jealous that their precious taylor didnt win eoty!! Taylor has no talent!

  • jig419 says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 10:59 pm

Anybody can go in the studio and make an album of the year and let the studio people fix your voice or let your daddy buy you the award!!

  • Notimpresd says:

    Posted: April 5th, 2009 at 11:45 pm

No, Taylor shouldn’t have won “ETOY”, but “princess” definitely didn’t EARN it!!!!

  • notimpresd says:

    Posted: April 6th, 2009 at 12:22 am

Just one more thing, I wish this time they would have shown Martina throwing her hands up saying “WHAT!!!” when she won! That would have been right on time!!!
Oh, and jig, I think Borchetta has taken over paying radio the “payola” for Swifter’s success, it’s not her daddy anymore!

  • star says:

    Posted: April 6th, 2009 at 6:29 am

just a FYI taylor was not up for eoty!! so before you go saying taylor fans are so called jealous get your facts straight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! taylor did sell more than carrie or they would not have given taylor the crystal award and by the way that was given by the academy not some so called vote or poll and taylor beat carrie for cd of the so that!!!!!!!!!

  • BluesFloozie says:

    Posted: April 6th, 2009 at 1:14 pm

I feel bad for Martina. She was always eclipsed by Shania and Faith. Then she finally started getting recognized and Gretchen came along with her “redneck movement.” Now the pendulum has swung the other way to the soul-lacking, manufactured, blonde concoctions. She is out in the cold.

Long live Willie Nelson and the state of Texas for there is no country music in Nashville anymore.Bleach blondes and kid shows with a rascal thrown in is the way of country music at the ACM these days.

I want to know if I am crazy because around 10 years ago I was lying on my couch very sick one night watching WSMV and the funniest show came on. I think it was called CUTS with Shane Caldwell. The only thing I remember about the show was someone was doing a impersonation of Whispering Bill Anderson that was funny as Hell, someone was also doing a schoolbus report-something like “Bus 666 won’t run today because” and I seem to remember another funny skit where someone was holding up a picture of a dog that had gone violent on its owner. I am wondering did I dream this due to high fever or did I really see this? No one I have ever told this about knows what I am talking about, they think I’m crazy. I would love to see this show again,if it existed, because it was the funniest thing I have ever seen.

That had to be one of the worst WORST, sound reinforcement jobs for vocals I have ever heard for any live TV awards show. It exposed EVERY single artist in a way that they should never have to be. It wasn’t the artists fault but something on the TV audio sound reinforcement end. There was no effects on ANY vocals, lead OR backup. Without a little reverb, or compression or anything EVERYone’s vocals sound sketchy, ironically is sounds unnatural. Some of the really outstanding singers just barely managed to not sound horrible, and the mediocre singers who were on the edge sounded downright nasty! I feel horrible for the singers, it was not fair. I am deeply torn as both a sound guy and a singer I mean it was just bad. I hope whatever or whoever didn’t work it out will be forced to listen to the tape over and over. If nothing else hire me, I can do at least as good as they did tonight.

That was the WORST CMT Awards show I have ever seen and I have seen plenty. I thought I was tuned in to punk or hard rock most of the night watching the Awards. I don’t think I’ll waste my time next year. There was very little COUNTRY MUSIC (REAL COUNTRY MUSIC) on the 2009 Awards.
Just pathetic and the sound was HORRIBLE. No wonder Alan Jackson and Trace Adkins looked like they were ready to crawl into a hole somewhere!!!!
If I want to watch punk or rock I’ll tune into MTV which looked like what I was watching on CMT Awards show.

If you CLAIM to be Country singers then SING COUNTRY!!!!
