Comedian Shane Caldwell will bring the wit he's shown in his stand-up routines and on scores of television comedy shows to CMT's biggest night on CMT.com's first live blog.
No writers. No editors. Whatever Shane sees on the red carpet, in the green room and backstage, he'll write about. Live.
So turn on your computer when you turn on your TV to watch the show, and you'll know what the stars are doing backstage and what the cameras don't show you.
Shane's live blog begins Monday at 6pm CST when the 2008 CMT Music Awards Red Carpet hits the air, and he'll be typing until the last winner leaves the stage.

That was the worse CMT Awards I ever watched. You had a lot of young kids watching and voting because of Miley and the real stars were over looked. The security was horrible and if that girl had intentions of hurting Toby Keith she would have been successful. I will admit you finally fixed your sound problems from the years past. It was about time.
Not everyone in the world text messages and our cell phones don’t even work at home because their is no repeater near us. So all of your text message voting is not accurate, but I guess CMT must make some money off of that. I will think twice of supporting our sponsors and even watching next year.

I really enjoyed the show, however, Sugarland was cheated. They must do a lot in the recording studio with some of these young girls, because their live performance was hard to listen to. Anyway, Luv Toby, he was so cool, just let that girl do her thing. Actually, it fit right in with the song.

Did I misunderstand that we were supposed to see our video submissions on a screen behind Rascal Flatts as they sang Bob That Head. The cameras didn’t even show the video screens, they just followed Gary around (which I didn’t mind, but I really wanted to see if my video was shown. It was unfair to the audience viewing at home because the screens weren’t always shown. I don’t think this is what RF wanted. I was so anxious and waited weeks for this.

everyone has cable. Losing interest in country anyway. Its
nothing like it used to be. Too many pretty people and not

Can someone please explain to my why anyone tolerates, let alone professes to “like” LeAnne Rimes? From the time she decided to transpose words to make them rhyme “how can I Leeeeeve without you…..” to the plastic surgery to make her look as good as she does at this time, she has never seemed genuine in any sense of the word. She was not attractive until she managed to slim down (no easy task I’m sure) and she just has that “I smell something bad” expression on her face all the time. Gimme a break.

CMT, You guy’s are wonderful. For us older folks we are well disappointed. Only with a few catagories. I know that it is moving into newer times and places, but country is country. What happen to meaning and heart felt songs? Some really deserved the awards they got, and some really, really didn’t. Taylor Swift you are our younger generation and honey one day you will be the best at it. Right now I really stronglly believe the video of the year should have went to someone that sings and knows country a little better. Congratulations Sugarland, Trace, and Kellie good going NC Rox. Kenny you really deserved the video of the year, both my husband and I agree. When it to a comes to a award like that it should go to someone who has put there heart and soul into it. I enjoyed the awards, but I was so disappointed. That is my personal opinion and they are like you no whats, and everyone has one. Good Luck to all CMT you are great.

First, I loved the show last night!! It was fun to see Billy Ray and Miley host the show (and in my honest opinion)they did a great job! The show went on without a hitch, and the music sounded great. There was only one instance in the whole show that disappointed me. When the “redneck” portion of the audience started to boo Snoop Dog! I felt embarrassed for Snoop, and ashamed of the audience members who lowered themselves to such distasteful act. I wonder if Snoop Dog is reconsidering releasing his country album after the reception he got from the “rednecks”!!!!….I just think it was unecessary to do that to a musician. It just showed they had no class!

ok I loved the show and thought that everyone did a great job!!(especially Kenny):) people keep on puttin taylor swift down which makes no sense whatsoever because there are many types of country music and she is a really great singer just like everyone else. Miley and Billy Ray rocked! Keep up the GREAT work CMT.

Last night’s show was not good. It was more like a joke. Billy Ray sounded good, but Miley’s performance was awful and Taylor Swift did more yelling than she did singing. I was really disappointed. Hopefully next year’s show will be like the CMT awards are supposed to be. I also didn’t think that Kellie deserved to award for Tear-jerker video. That was just plain SILLY.

I glad I Tivo’d the show so I could fast forward through the horrible hosting by the Cyrus’ (aka Dumb & Dumber). I can not believe what a BAD show it was. Downright painful at times. Snoop Dogg??? R U kidding me? PLEASEEEE bring back Reba or Jeff Foxworthy to host the shows. Let Billy Ray go back and practice “medicine” so he can put us all out of our misery from that God Awful Show!!

I am really disapointed in country music Allan Jackson did an awesome job again as the only true country singer. As far as Taylor Swift I am sorry but she should not sing live my teenage daughter agrees. Bucky Covington you are one of the up and coming young true country singers! Sugar Land and Little Big Town that was awesome for a pop song! There is a certain sound in country music and most are missing it it isn’t even country rock. I thought Miley did a wonderful job for a 15 year old girl. Taylor front row people can possibly see up your dress please lengthen it nexttime you are on stage. Robert Plant and Alison Krauss please give us more you are the real old time music sound.
Next year CMT please make sure the attire of the young girls suits their age or don’t let them on stage!!!!!!!! CMT where is the country sound!!!!!!! Sorry Taylor you are not country you are pop music and think about who you are now a role model for please tone down the videos and your attire. This was supposed to be for video not the popularity of the songs the truly best videos were not always the winners in my opinion.

Unfortunately, I missed the first 40 min. of the show. I watched the rest only because I thought MAYBE Keith Urban had not yet taken the stage. I was actually embarrassed for the “kids” who simply cannot sing. (No names mentioned, but those of you who aren’t tone deaf will know who I’m talking about.) The truly talented musical artists sound BETTER live than they do on CD. If you’ve ever seen Keith Urban in concert, you know what I’m talking about!) And the on-stage banter was so infantile. This show could definitely use some class
and more performers who can actually carry a tune.
